The Last Month and More..........

Well, its been about a month since the last blog update and lots have happened but I’ll do my best to keep it short……..

We made it through the move, locking in a mortgage rate (it was like watching a tennis match with the rates varying on a daily basis) and watching the economy fall apart (during our closing, the person with the office next door was yelling at his financial advisor on what he should do with his 401K).

The move went well but took close to 1 week for most of the stuff to get moved.
We closed on the house on October 10th and started moving stuff in right away. The first was our new dining set that we picked up at Sears following the Twin Cities Marathon 5K. (I am definitely glad that I didn’t have to run 4 hours in the rain for the Marathon. Riley and I ran the TCM 5K and finished around 170th out of 2100 participants.). We had our first family dinner at the house (Papa Murphy’s pizza) with Grampa Milty and Gramma Peggy. That weekend, Vicki and I painted rooms while my Grampa Milty sealed the garage floor and Gramma Peggy spent time with the kids. They definitely love hanging out with her. We also went apple picking that weekend with Angie, Ali and Shirley. (see pix).

On Monday, Oct 13th, my parents headed to Texas to see Marc and then on to Florida. We prepared for the big move. The furniture was to go on Thursday (moving company) and follow-up with a U-Haul for the smaller stuff on Saturday. Grampa Wayne and Gramma Carol came over on Wednesday and helped prepare for the move. The move started on Thursday morning at 7:30 AM and by 1 PM, the majority of the stuff was in the new house. We made multiple trips back and forth on Friday and Saturday (with U-Haul truck) to get everything out. Tammy, Tom, Joe and Mary were very helpful in the move. We skarfed down some pizza after the second load of stuff and then dropped off the U-Haul. Gramma Carol and Grampa Wayne were very helpful with watching china, unpacking boxes, hanging up curtain rods and much more.

Now a week later, we are still unpacking and moving stuff around. We have begun hanging pictures and get our house back in order after being in disarray for the past 4 months. The house is really nice and there are still a few minor flaws but working with the builder to get things fixed. Our driveway had a big crack in it and on Wednesday, they ripped it out and then laid a new driveway on Friday so that means no parking in the garage for the next 2 weeks. The kids love the house and all the room to play especially the finished basement and all the bigger toys down there. Riley and I just picked up 6 trees at Home Depot and plan to plant them this week. I was going to plant them on Sunday but with the blowing snow and sleet, it never happened. I’ll plant them this week.

We are beginning to meet some of the neighbors and there is a party following trick and treating on Halloween night. That should be fun. Brooke is going to be Snow White and Riley is going to be a dragon.

Now, we are finishing the month with Brooke’s birthday celebrations. We had a mini-party for her with my parents, Vicki’s parents and a bigger party with more relatives and Bob/Loree. Brooke had a great time opening gifts and we had a Mexican buffet with tacos, nachos and much more. (see the pix).

Well, it been a very busy week and this week is expected to be the same with 3 teleconferences with the Japanese (M, T, W) , 4 Halloween parties (M, W, F, S), Vicki’s relatives coming in town (Uncle Marv and his family), Installation of Dish Network, hanging the Plasma TV above the fireplace and a 3 River Park District Volunteer Meeting.

Oh yeah, the best thing about the new house is that its ½ mile from Cleary Lake Park. So last week, I inline skated over there a couple times (once with Riley) and went roller skiing on Saturday. One more thing, the first dinner at the new house, we looked out the back window and saw deer in the backyard.

Well, I am gonna call it a night since I am playing hockey at 6:30 AM on Monday morning! Last week was my first week back and my legs were so sore that I struggled to get in and out of my car.

By the way, our new address is…..
17797 Cleary Trail SEPrior Lake, MN 55372

Take care!
